But how does one have 'a fun?'

There is no excuse for the huge delay between the last post and this one.

Today, Marcel finished typing out all the character documents we have accumulated at all of the meetings. That means all our characters are in digital and paper forms, and that we have all the tools we need to collaborate via the Internet. We are using google docs for the documents so that we can all edit them, and Skype for video/voice conferencing. That's a daily standard set up, I assume, but this is my first time using a collaborative digital document of an kind, so I figure starting with the basics is fine.

Two steps forward, and that damn other one.

After missing a week of meetings (1 meeting) and a while of posting, we had a great meeting today. It was the kind of meeting that reinvigorates a man and gets him excited about his project again. We repeated the 100 character questions procedure with another one of our characters and got ready to start writing the script. We all agreed to make the movie a priority over all the other things in our lives and set out to make a great one.

Frustration + Workflows

The meeting that was supposed to happen today has to be rescheduled because of conflicts. It's a little frustrating from my perspective because I have cleared all other events from my schedule in order to focus solely on making this movie, but we've worked out a way to have meetings over Skype. I need to step up my game, at least organizationally. Project leadership is not my primary skillset, so I'm improvising at every step of the way. The only thing to do is plow forward. As the expression goes, FIGHT!

That wasn't a great start

So much for posting every day... I will try to be better at this, I'm not used to posting things on the internet at regular intervals.

This week has only been moderately productive. I haven't had all the time needed to listen to all the audio of the last meeting. I have had some conversations with Chris, however, and we have enough talking points for the meeting coming up on Saturday that it shouldn't matter. I'm off to work, but I will be back to posting daily starting now.

Day 2 was not quite as productive

Today, not nearly as productive as yesterday. I got Chris to send me the audio transcripts of yesterday's meeting, and I'll get to listening to them over the course of the week. There are about three and a half hours of audio to go through, in addition to the 45 minutes of the previous meeting that we recorded. I will be listening to all the recordings and writing down every single story point that we discussed during the meetings and establishing a rough timeline of events for the movie. Hopefully this means that after our next meeting we can start writing an outline. If you want to know what I did with the rest of my day, it's after the break.

Paradigm Shifts!

As of today, I am a Producer. There is a group of four people who are making our first feature film, and I am taking on the role of producer. I've never wanted to be a producer, but at this point in my life, I feel like I have all the resources at my disposal to make a feature film, and nobody will make this happen if I don't take the reigns and just go with it. I will post here every day, and I can't promise that every entry will be riveting, but I hope that by the end this will be useful for anyone else trying to make their own movie.

The working title of our movie is "Tranquility"

Today is Saturday, August 1st 2009 and I'm in a production meeting with Chris, Eric and Kevin and we are creating the characters who will be in our movie. I found a list of 100 questions about a character that was designed to be used by overly anal roleplayers, but we are re-purposing for use in our script. Full list of questions after the jump.

Most recent update?

Mullets is finally done, and I've also finished filming a web series with Disappointed People. Info on both at Disappointed People's site

Demo reel up on videos page

It's not as polished as I'd like it to be, and I only have raw footage from two of the NOTM shoot days, but it's what I have right now. Once NOTM is done and I have a finished copy of Just Drive, I'll update again~
